ANTHONY VAN ROOY
Anthony Van Rooy of Cleveland, Ohio has been painting relentlessly
for decades. 818 Studios is pleased to present a showing of never before seen artwork by this astounding artist.
Anthony Van Rooy was born in Cleveland in 1962. He is a graduate of St Edward High School and achieved a BFA at Cleveland State University in 1992. Since then he has managed to raise a family, maintain his own business and continue to stay true to his passion for the arts. While not showing his work for over a decade, Tony has been very consistent in creating an amazing body of work throughout the years since. We are pleased to present a small collection of his finest works that have not been seen by the public and are presented for sale for the first time here at 818 Studios.
Here’s what Tony has to say about the work presented:
“Chaotic Balance vs. Temptation is the story of my life. I started out in 1993 with a show titled The Seduction of Temptation which was basically my spin on apocalyptic times. It begins with the first bite and follows through to where that leads; towards revelations and the things that one might have to do to eat. Chaotic Balance vs. Temptation is a continuation of this theme and my life as it continues. My influences are the human figure, fashion, design, magic, religion and things that don’t make sense to humans. The Circus Fun Bag and the Magic Lantern are two symbols that embody temptation, everything is in the fun bag and be careful what you wish for hence “Another Bad Wish”. Temptation causes chaos. Balance keeps you in the game. I like to put both sides of life in my paintings.”
