Hello Everyone,
It’s with mixed emotions that I must announce 818 Studios will be closing it’s doors on February 1st.
Due to the recent sale of the building and a plan for this corner of Tremont that does not include 818 Studios, I’ll have to be on my way.
Despite this location closing, Barbara Merritt Photography is still thriving and able to accommodate current and new clients, as always. With a focus on installation, corporate work and portrait photography, I am forging ahead into 2024. The photo studio at 818 will be set up throughout January so if you’d like to get in here for photos, please reach out.
It’s been a dream to have both a studio and an art gallery come together in one space. I will make every effort to continue that dream, hopefully with a building of my own. I look forward to the possibility of future collaborations within the local art scene and I will always endeavor to be a part of promoting and encouraging the advancement of the arts in Cleveland.
Thank you to EVERYONE that 818 has had the pleasure of representing and exhibiting these last 5+ years. Especially Anthony Van Rooy, Rebecca Yody, John Saile, Rebekah Wilhelm, and Michael Zelenka.

Thank you Tanya Kaiser of Kaiser Gallery and Doubting Thomas Gallery for sharing countless art openings and bringing art to the forefront in Tremont. Thank you Mark LaGrange, for having faith in my endeavor and enabling me to establish a presence in Tremont. Thank you Meredith Lunsford for helping when I thought there was no help.
Most of all, thank you to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who came to see an exhibit, put a couple bucks in the donation jar, purchased art, DJ’d an event, brainstormed with me, brought your dogs (or yourselves) in for a portrait, carried stuff up the stairs for me, modeled for a photo shoot, spackled, painted and helped install shows, donated materials or helped in any way. I simply couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, friends and the good people of this neighborhood.
I love you all, and I am so thankful for the time I’ve had at 818, and with all of you. It’s been glorious. Your advocacy and inspiration has been soul affirming at every turn.
